Due to the number of requests we have had about the history of Hartford, CT and/or the history of Connecticut we have included this page in the hope of helping those requesting such information. The primary interest of the Historical Society of East Hartford is the history of our town, East Hartford, CT. Usually only as they relate to our town do we consider other histories. At this time Hartford, CT unfortunately does not have its own historical society. Hopefully these sites and others on this page will help in researching Hartford's history.

Friends of Center Cemetery, Inc Center Cemetery was an 'east of the CT River' Hartford cemetery until 1783 when East Hartford separated from Hartford. Center Cemetery was the 2nd oldest cemetery in Hartford and is the oldest in East Hartford. It was founded in 1709.
